Florence! written by Katie.

I saw amazing paintings in Galleria Uffizi and exquisite views from the top of a dome. First I'll tell you where we are. On Wednesday we went to Florence, which is the biggest city in the Tuscany region, it's got 380,000 people there is a lot more people in the Tuscany region then the Taranaki region. When we arrived from our 1 hour car trip we  parked on a high car park which was over looking the whole city.

View from car park!

We walked down the high hill and wandered towards a bridge. Once we were on it my mum said this bridge is called Ponte Vecchio. Ponte Vecchio is actually famous because it was the only bridge until 1218 and in World War 2 it didn't get destroyed by the Germans. After we were over the bridge we went to Galleria Uffizi.

                                                             Ponte Vecchio!

When you looked up you could see a huge building  then with a tall tower sticking up with a clock on it. We had already booked our tickets which was good or we would probably be waiting in a 1 hour queue. There was amazing painting some were from Amsterdam others from France. Every room was a new artist, some rooms had themes others didn't. There was even rooms with a royal family. The paintings were really old some were even painted in the 1500. I had lot's of fun exploring the art gallery, but now it's time to go get a gelato then off to the dome.

We have arrived, I look up, I see the dome, it looks amazing! The Dome is actually a part of the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. But to get to the top we have to walk 463 stairs it was tiring but it was defiantly worth it once you had got to the top. There was stunning views right over the whole city. You could see the art gallery and the bell tower. The church was built in the 1400s, but not as old as Ponte Vecchio. Walking up and down the stairs were pretty easy except when they turned in to a ladder thing. I loved the dome because it  was amazing at the top!( I would defiantly recommend both of these!)
