We have experienced the past few days as locals living in Munich. Silke and I both ventured to Montana, USA as 17 year old exchange students and have kept in touch ever since. As always with great friends, it seems like yesterday when we last caught up (not 15 years ago)! But this time has been extra special as we have introduced our husbands and kids to each other, and even better they all got on 'like a house on fire'!
We got to take her boys to school and experience a German school production, experience the German biergartens, walk along the great historic buildings of zentrum whilst 2 mins later watching locals surfing the stream in downtown Munich. We went off to the lake and learnt about 'clothing optional' sections, and tasted great local food and beer.
Marvin even got himself a full lederhosen outfit (that men traditionally wear to Oktoberfest), so watch out when we get back to NZ for some German themed parties!
Another very special event was catching up with Christian and his lovely family at another biergarten. Christian was also in Montana, USA with us as an exchange student - so they was lots of reminiscing going on and some more beer!
What a special time for the Clough family, thanks so much Silke and family.
Thank you so much sharing the time with us, it was great catching up on the last 15 years although it seemd like yesterday that we have met. It was awesome getting to know your great children and they got along so well, even as they were friends for a long time.
ReplyDeleteIt is strange, but with some people you have that - you alway feel close although you are not. I´m grateful for your friendship - thank you Anne and of course now the whole family!
Hope it won´t take another 15 years to meet again:-)
