Munich - written by Katie

Coming from a small lake side town in Austria we head to Munich! When Mum was in America for her AFS exchange she meet a girl called Silke, they became very good friends. Now Silke lives in Munich so we stayed with her!  Silke has two children, named Lewis aged 7 and Moritz aged 11 and the Dad is Edin.  Since Munich is a big city there is a lot to explore. Here are some things we got up to in our 4 day stay!

We arrived on Thursday, which meant the next day the kids go to school. We walked with them, Moritz goes to a school for years 7- 13, and Louis goes to a school for years 1-6. Once we had dropped the kids off we headed to a local German clothes shop, where my Dad wanted to get the traditional Lederhosen outfit! Once Dad had bought his outfit we drove back to Silkie’s. We waited for a bit then Moritz arrived home from school. After a little sit down we went to Lewis’s school play (mini production).  It was in German so I couldn’t understand it, but it was animal themed!

The boys got some friends and all went to play soccer while Silke, my Dad, Mum and me caught the metro and headed into the centre of Munich.  We saw old and modern buildings, a church and some amazing architecture. We wandered through a nice park and saw an artificial wave which people surf on. We headed back by tram and waited at the station for the boys and then went to our first German biergarten. The kids went to the small playground while the parents talked and had lots of beer! At the playground their were some german kids, we played tag with them which was quite easy to communicate because we barely speaked you only really shouted ahhhhhhhhhhh, when someone was chasing you! We had  a really nice dinner and good drinks!

The next day was really hot so we headed to a nice sparkling refreshing lake, It was beautiful and quite peaceful since we had got there at 10am. I dived into the lake and felt the crystal clear water splash my face! We all swam around (including the parents) and while the Mums swam off we played a game where the ball can’t touch the water. After we had had a nice 30min swim we came in and  played badminton and soccer, it was lots of fun running around then splashing back into the shining water. The boys had bought an inflatable crocodile which I was just lying down on and floating around swiftly! Once we had all decided to hop out we went to a near lake side biergarten and had some good lunch. Later that day we went to a nearby shopping mall. Moritz and Connor went to another shopping mall where they got nerf guns, while Silke, Lewis, Mum and I went to a clothes shop and explored a bit around as well as going to the supermarket! We went home and had a lovely baberque dinner!

The next day we were off to another biergarten to met up with a friend of Silke’s and my Mums from when they were in America. His name is Christian, we met him at a biergarten but we got a surprise when we got there as there was a fair going on! We walked around to wait for Christian, when we met him the parents had a chat than we went to a table and ordered some drinks and pretzels. After we had had a good hour sit down the kids and Silkie went to the fair and played some games. Our first one was when you sit down in a big row of seats and go up and down but more in circles. That was lots of fun you even got a little bit of a spray of water when you were up. Our next activity was bumper cars, we were smashing into each other and zooming around having lots of fun! After that we went to our final activity where you sit in a seat with a handle keeping you in then you get lifted up and spin around more slow at the start but then you get higher and a bit faster! We get back to our table and have a bit of a chat followed by a hamburger and drinks. Now it was time to say our goodbyes and head back home where we played a soccer game and had a nice barbeque dinner!

Today we leave for Switzerland, it  was an awesome time with Silke and her family and it was fun exploring the big and fantastic Munich! When I am older I want to go back there since it was so much fun!!! But I guess we have to move on with our travels, the family was fun and most enjoyed!

                                         The End!
